Statement

My work is derived from my personal perception and outlook on the world, especially with organic forms such as landscapes and the human body. Through the use of color, shape and form, I am attempting to convey these personal ideas to others in hopes of explaining a part of myself; visual images are more important to me than verbal words. When words are in my work, it is just a word or phrase to help clarify myself and my ideas.

One of the things I am currently working with is the idea of a flat but layered landscape, and the dimensional space (or lack of) that it allows. My focus is on caves and forests, both of which can be seen as Freudian imagery relating to the human body as well as to places of solitude and escape. I am also interested in the repetitive patterns that these images make when placed together.
